AbstractThe objective of this work is to develop a methodological approach to the joint ASTER/TERRA and IKONOS data, considering the application of a Linear Spectral Mixture Model. The fundamental idea is to verify the possibility to improve the spectral mixture model results derived from a medium spatial resolution images (e.g. ASTER), utilizing high-resolution data (IKONOS), that allows the characterization and estimation of pure pixels for model formulation. Then the proportions of soil, shade and vegetation components originated from IKONOS scenes were utilized as the input data to the computer program developed, in order to estimate the most pure pixels for ASTER and consequently to refine the performance of the mixture model for ASTER images. The validation of ASTER results originated from this method was performed using linear regression analysis.
